Suicide is not the solution

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the single largest illness in the world is depression. We are more likely to suffer from mental illness than any other illness. Many suicides happen impulsively in moments of crisis with a breakdown in the ability to deal with life stresses. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2019 report stated that an average of 381 suicides were committed daily. This has led to more than 90,000 young people dying by suicide in the year 2019 alone.

ACT is an organisation working with the poor and marginalised for the last 45 years. We work in the area of community development and mental health and our unique perspective in both prevention and care helps us to serve our communities in a more informed manner.

Our team of mental health professionals have a wide range of experience from providing problem solving counselling in slum communities and trauma care in Government after care homes.

We believe that every person is created uniquely and has value and potential.

To combat this huge crisis, we have launched a Suicide Prevention Helpline JEEVAN on the 26th of January, 2021 so that every person has an opportunity to be heard and understood.

Helpline No. 74 2206 2206, this helpline will take calls between 10 am to 10 pm from Monday to Saturday.
